Workshops
This workshop is part of the Garden Museum’s Branch Out programme, a series of free events and activities exploring gardening, art, floristry, plant science, history, design, and more!
How do we determine what to save, conserve, preserve and otherwise hold on to? How do we decide what needs pruning and what we hold precious? What has a right to stay – and who has a say?
Part tactile lecture, part experimental workshop, during this session we will explore different ways of preserving plants to think through these important questions. Working with weeds as our companion, we will craft a quirky micro-herbarium of artefacts using gilding, experimental image-making and household preservatives!
As we enjoy Spring in full-bloom, we’ll reflect on the relationships to nature we wish to cultivate over a thoughtful evening of process-led artmaking, discussion and otherwise getting in touch with plant materials.
